Taxol
Analysis
Paclitaxel (Taxol) and some taxane analogs have shown distinct promise as anti-cancer
and anti-tumor drugs. The big demand for taxanes for
clinical use has led to intense study of their production,
isolation, purification, and partial or total synthesis.
Chromatographic
methods have been developed to detect and isolate taxanes
on an analytical and preparative scale. A number
of studies of the high performance liquid chromatography
separation of taxanes have also emerged.
With the expanding
interest in taxol and other taxoids for treatment of
breast and ovarian cancers, MetaChem offers three HPLC
columns which provide excellent resolution of essentially
all taxoids .Taxsil™ columns offer excellent resolving
power for taxol and its related compounds using simple
MeOH: Water eluents. Taxsil-2 and Taxsil-3 columns offer
alternative selectivities to the original Taxsil™ columns.
These new phases offer improved resolution of 10-deacetyltaxol
and 7-xylosyltaxol. Taxsil-2 has the interesting
property of being able to resolve most of the common
taxoids using either gradient elution or isocratic elution.
