MetaChem supplies a wide range
of preparative HPLC column hardware and pre-packed columns.
Columns up to 4.0” internal diameter are available packed
with any of the literally hundreds of HPLC column packings
offered by MetaChem.
Many of the preparative columns offered by MetaChem use
MODCol® HPLC column hardware, shown in the diagram at
left. Both flanged and threaded-tube designs are available
for columns up to 1.2” ID. We recommend flanged MODCol®
columns for IDs larger than 1.2”.
MODCol® HPLC column hardware has a reputation for very
high quality and rugged durability. Columns are manufactured
of 316 stainless steel, passivated and electropolished
to ensure good chemical resistance, and are pressure-rated
to 2000 psi. The unique construction of MODCol® preparative
columns allows them to be repacked time and again to help
minimize cost without sacrificing quality.
MetaChem offers a pre-packed column rental service which
allows customers to minimize the cost of 2.0 to 4.O” ID
columns. Using this service, customers pay a one-time
set up and packing fee plus a moderate monthly column
rental fee. This service allows for significant savings
to customers whose requirement for preparative column
use is limited or intermittent, (e.g. prep columns used
only for occasional batch
processing.)
Unlike many preparative columns which are dry-packed and
provide relatively poor chromatographic performance, MetaChem
provides slurry-packed preparative columns which provide
near-analytical-grade efficiencies and peak symmetries.
For example, 10µ Kromasil C18 and C8 medias have been
packed to give over 66,000 plates/meter with peak asymmetry
values of <1.1.
MetaChem offers the complete line of empty MODcol® preparative
column hardware for customers who pack their own columns.
