MetaGuard™ are stand-alone,
disposable columns which connect directly into the end-fitting
of any manufacturer’s analytical column, providing outstanding
column protection and unparalleled convenience. The single-piece
design of MetaGuard is a major advance over other direct-connect
guards which have multiple, hard-to-handle and easy-to-lose
pieces. With a twist of wrist MetaGuard forms a fingertight,
very low dead-volume connection which minimizes sample
dispersion, maximizes system efficiency, and is leak-free
to over 5000 psi! MetaGuard has no appreciable effect
on column efficiency or peak shape. The compact design
of MetaGuard makes it perfect for use in column-heating
applications where space considerations are crucial. MetaGuard
columns are available filled with a wide variety of name-brand
packings, ensuring that the guard packing exactly matches
the packing in the analytical column. MetaGuard columns
are compatible with all manufacturers' columns.

The SafeGuard system
is comprised of disposable cartridges used in combination
with a durable, reusable holder. SafeGuard is connected
to the analytical column with a short capillary tubing
“coupler.” The SafeGuard system is designed to minimize
dead volume and will not decrease the efficiency or resolution
of the HPLC system. The holder is machined with a microbore-aperture
and flow path which has virtually zero dead volume. The
cartridges add only 1cm of bed depth to the system and
have negligible effect on retention and system pressure.
The reusable SafeGuard holder is made of high quality
stainless steel with a metal-free, PEEK-lined flowpath.
Each holder is supplied with two polymeric fingertight
fittings.
SafeGuard cartridges are available with a huge variety
of different column packings and are compatible with all
manufacturer’s HPLC columns. SafeGuard cartridges are
also very popular for on-line trace enrichment and sample
preparation in column switching applications.
